Dr. Lauren Russell chose dentistry because it beautifully blends medicine, art, physics, and engineering — a combination that allows her to improve children’s lives in meaningful, hands-on ways. She loves that pediatric dentistry is both technical and creative, where precision meets personality and every smile tells a story.
Dr. Lauren earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, graduating with Honors in 2011. She was named to the Dean’s List throughout her dental school career from 2007 to 2011. Following dental school, she completed a Certificate in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in June 2012, further strengthening her clinical expertise and comprehensive approach to patient care.
Her academic journey began at American University in Washington, DC, where she graduated magna cum laude in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and a minor in Spanish. She was a member of the University Honors Program and consistently named to the Dean’s List from 2002 to 2006. Her background in international studies and Spanish helps her connect with families from diverse backgrounds and communicate with warmth and clarity.
At Merhoff & Associates Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Lauren believes what truly sets the practice apart is the “Dream Team.” The entire team works in sync to create exceptional experiences for every child and family. It’s a supportive, energetic environment where compassion and expertise go hand in hand.
One of Dr. Laurens’s greatest joys is helping children and parents learn to love coming to the dentist. She understands that early dental visits shape lifelong habits, and she is passionate about creating positive, confidence-building experiences. From first appointments to milestone moments, she wants every child to feel safe, proud, and excited about their smile.
Her philosophy of care centers on responsibility and trust. Dr. Lauren believes it is her duty to provide exceptional dental care while inspiring confidence in both her patients and their families. Through open communication, thoughtful treatment planning, and genuine encouragement, she helps children build healthy smiles that last a lifetime.
